An assessment found under-reinforced columns and no continuity at the beam-column joints. The recommendation was jacketing of fourteen columns and the addition of two shear walls in the transverse direction.
Delivery
All structural work was completed across the winter and summer vacations so that no teaching days were lost. Classrooms were handed back cleaned, repainted and with new electrical fittings.
Result
The block now meets current seismic code requirements, verified by an independent reviewer appointed by the school.
